Donald Oscar Cavalli left this life always to be remembered. He was born June 7, 1918, in Potter, Nebraska to his parents Arthur C. Cavalli and Mary Helen Slama. He married June Priscilla Jensen July 18, 1940. They were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple, September 17, 1952. After her death on October 8, 2000, he married Eve Campbell Baird December 18, 2003.

Don worked for the Ogden Union Railroad and Depot Co., retiring in 1979 after 43 years of service. As an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, he held many positions such as scoutmaster, stake scout leader, division 5X scout leader, bishopric counselor, high councilman, home teacher, and more. He was active in scouting programs since the early 1950�s and was awarded the Silver Beaver award in 1966. He received the Eager Silver Beaver Award in 1986, scouting�s highest honor for local service. He spent years in service and loved every minute of it.

He was a member of the Golden Spike Gem and Mineral Society since 1974, having served on the board of directors, as President, and Vice-President. He was a member of the Northwest Federal Mineral Society; Desert Rats; and member and auctioneer of the Beehive Rock and Gem Club. He taught at the Golden Hour Center and taught local elementary school children about gems and minerals during school assemblies with his spouse June Cavalli for many years.

His hobbies were fishing, rockhounding, silversmithing, woodcarving and leather working. He was skilled in lapidary, as a car mechanic, roofer, general handyman and builder. Additional interests included construction and travel (especially rock trips). He graduated with a GED in 1979 from Weber High School. Don was happy, and full of life and energy. He loved his family and was a man of integrity, loyalty, kindness, determination, hard work, gentleness, and service.

Don is survived by his wife Eve Campbell Baird, son-in-law Ward P. Belliston, of Salt Lake City, Utah; daughter-in-law Carolyn Fowers Cavalli Hilden of Alpharetta, Georgia; and grandchildren: Kristi Ann (Bart) Nelson of Bountiful, Utah; Teresa Lyn (Darvil) Boren of Central, Arizona; Ryan Howell (Kristie) Belliston of Logan, Utah; Malia NaLani (Brian) Nelson of Spring, Texas; Travis D. (Erika) Belliston of Logan, Utah; Shannon LeAnn (Tyson) Burnham of Logan; Darin Cavalli Belliston of Logan, Utah; Devon Van (Emilee) Belliston of Georgia; Brett Donald Cavalli of Atlanta, Georgia; Shawn Arthur (Shauna) Cavalli of Longmont, Colorado; Trent Cavalli of Alpharetta, Georgia; step-grandchildren Nathan (Tracy Jo) Hilden of Atlanta, Georgia; and Cameron Hilden of Atlanta, Georgia and 36 great-grandchildren and 17 step-great-grandchildren. Also, step children: Janet (Bob) Gillespie of Ogden, Utah; Mary Gehrke of Denver, Colorado; Deborah Garn of Ogden, Utah; Rhobina Baird Kennedy of Ogden, Utah;
Jeffrey Earl Baird of Layton, Utah.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, June Cavalli, siblings Grant LaVern Cavalli, Ann D. Cavalli Edlund Thomas, Robert Wayne Cavalli; daughter Judith Ann Cavalli Belliston; son Donald Cavalli Jr.; and great-grandchildren Brooke Ann Burnham and Brennon Lee Burnham.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 10, 2010 at 11:00 a.m., at Myers Mortuary 845 Washington Blvd., Ogden, Utah. Friends and family may pay respects to Don and family on Saturday from 9:00 � 10:45 a.m., prior to services.

Don�s family would like to thank his family, friends, neighbors and the wonderful staff at the Gardens Assisted Living Center and Community Nursing Services for the loving care and kindnesses shown to him.
