MERIDEN -- Janet Bell, 64, Meriden, died Saturday, Aug. 21, 1999, at a Topeka hospital.
She was born April 8, 1935, in Topeka, the daughter of Myrl A. and Elva Koehlar Halstead. She was raised in the Rock Creek community, and she graduated from Meriden High School. She was a lifelong resident of the Meriden and Rock Creek area.
Mrs. Bell was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary to Meriden Post No. 10815 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
She married Elmer L. Bell on Sept. 5, 1958, at Meriden. He preceded her in death Oct. 25, 1996.
Survivors include three sons, Terry L. Bell, Kevin E. Bell and Scott A. Bell, all of Meriden; a sister, Meriece Dillon, Topeka; and five grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Davidson Funeral Home in Topeka.
Burial will be at the Meriden Cemetery.
Mrs. Bell will lie in state from noon to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home where relatives and friends will meet from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Ladies Auxiliary to Meriden Post No. 10815 of the VFW and sent in care of the funeral home.
