Tubbs, were fatally injured Saturday night, July 1,1961, when their vehicle missed the Battle Creek bridge, on F.M. Rd 1853, and hit the bank of the creek about 15 miles southwest of Breckenridge.
Funeral for Herman B. "Jack" Thomason was held at the Moran Baptist Church, Monday, July 3, 1961, with the pastor in charge. He was born July 25 in the Necessity Community of Stephens County, Texas.
Survivors at the time included his wife, Pearl; his mother, Mrs. Emma Thomason of Mora; three sisters, Mrs. Lonie Quisenberry of Spur, Mrs. Ada Milligan of Lamesa and Mrs. Gladys Nell Base of Abilene; two brothers, O.H. of Hobbs, NM and Guy of Brownsville, Texas.
