Retired Emerson Electric quality control manager Fredrick James Britton, 90, of Paris died Monday, March 1, 2010, at RoseStone Retirement Community in Paris.
His wife, Myrtle "Myrcel" Woodcock Britton, survives. They were married on July 12, 1941.
His funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at McEvoy Funeral Home.
Trent Bullock, pastor at First Baptist Church, where Britton was a member, will officiate. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery.
Chosen as pallbearers are William Harding, Curtis Moore, Billy Jack Gallamore, Burton Purcell, Felix Wichlan and Homer Maddox.
Honorary pallbearers will be Robert Hailey, Charles Ray, Sam Knott and Paul Villaflor.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Wednesday and after 11 a.m. Thursday.
Born May 13, 1919, in Bay City, MI, he was a son of the late Joe and Ella Friebe Britton.
Britton moved to Paris from Ypsilanti, MI, in 1965, going to work at Emerson, where he worked until 1984. He was past member and president of the Paris Lions Club. His wife said he was an avid golfer, playing at the Paris Country Club. He attended Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti.
He also leaves one daughter: Mary Jane (Avery) Graham of Beaumont, Texas; one son: Thomas Britton of Paris; a daughter-in-law: Joan Britton of Sevierville; two brothers: Joe Britton of Avon Lake, Ohio, and Harold (Marlene) Britton of Ypsilanti; three grandchildren: Alexandra Avery, Heather Britton (Tracy) Hardin and Andrea Britton Collinswood; and a great-grandchild: Kailey Hardin.
He also was preceded in death by a son: David Britton; and a sister: Lillian Britton Smith.
