Sarah is the youngest child of William and Mary Ann Bryant Bishop. Just 7 months old when her father William died, she followed him at age 14. Her mother never remarried and raised Sarah and her two older sisters alone. A difficult task anytime but very difficult during this century for a woman alone to raise 3 children. Sarah is buried here with her father.
She is my 1st cousin, 3X removed. Her grandfather was Zachariah "Rial" Bryant, memorialized with his parents, grandmother, and siblings, on the monument for his family located in Poplar Springs Cemetery, Milan, TN. It says "Proud Cherokee People". His father and grandmother were full Cherokee and his mother was French Huguenot according to records. Sarah's mother and one sister are laid to rest in Oakwood Cemetery, Milan, TN. Her eldest sister is buried in Waynoka Municipal Cemetery, Waynoka Woods, OK.
Her sisters are:
Mary Elizabeth "Mollie" Bishop Baird 1846 – 1930
Queen Victoria Bishop Coley 1848 – 1909
We remember you Sarah and your short life. Rest peacefully sweetheart...
