The birth and death dates recorded on the Oakwood Cemetery transcript are the dates that I have entered onto this memorial. This is in conflict with the newly submitted information posted below.

Name: Dr. William Henry Bledsoe
Birth: 6 MAY 1840 in Carroll Co., TN.
Death: 10 FEB 1905 (might double check his death year, had came across note about his obit being in 1905??)
Father: Yancey Bledsoe b: 14 JUL 1803 in Wake Co., NC.
Mother: Martha Henrietta Wilkes b: 1804 in Virginia
December 8, 1864, he married Myra E. Allen, who died September 4, 1872
Enlisted in 1861 in Capt. Lewis Clark's company C, Fifty-fifth Regiment Tennessee Infantry, Confederate Army, and served one year. He did not reenlist on account of sickness, was captured and kept a prisoner on Island No. 10. He escaped and came through to the Southern lines.
Obituary in "The Dresden Enterprise" Dresden, TN Friday, Feb. 10, 1905, said he had three sons in Kentucky and one in Texas that he was about 68 yrs old. Dr. Bledsoe had been a resident of Gleason for about sixteen years.
