MULBERRY -- Harvey A. Hutson, 89, of Mulberry, died at 7:20 p.m. Monday, March 12, 2001, at his home.
He was born May 24, 1911, at Vernon County, Mo., to William and Nettie Lawrence Hutson. He was raised at Rich Hill, Mo., and attended Rich Hill schools.
He married Beetrice Houghton on July 27, 1929, at Fort Scott.
Mr. Hutson worked in the coal mines, owned Hutson Trucking, and in 1950, went to work for Stewart Sand Company. He retired from there as a hoisting engineer.
He moved to Mulberry in 1978.
Mr. Hutson was a member of the Mulberry Christian Church, a 60-year member of the Girard Masonic Lodge, the Scottish Rites in Fort Scott, the Mirza Shrine of Pittsburg, Operating Engineers Union No. 101 of Kansas City, Mo., and the AARP.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; a daughter, Peggy Onstot of Mulberry; a son, Harvey C. Hutson of Kansas City, Kan.; a sister, Leona Lewis of Des Moines, Iowa; 11 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by an infant son, Teddy Joe Hutson; a brother, Charles Hutson; and a sister, Sadie Hutson.
Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at the Bedene Funeral Home of Arma, with Ronnie Talbott officiating. Burial will be at the Pittsburg Garden of Memories Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. today at the Bedene Funeral Home, and friends may call after 11 a.m. today at the funeral home chapel. Arrangements are under the direction of the Bedene Funeral Home of Arma.
