Harlan L. "Dusty" Ford, 83, of Las Vegas, passed away Thursday, Dec. 24, 2009. He was born Nov. 30, 1926, in Salt Lake City, and was a 55-year resident of Nevada.
Eager to serve his country, Dusty left school at age 17 to join the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II, and was involved in the difficult battle of the Island of Iwo Jima.
From a very young age, he always had a love for horses, especially the "fast" ones. After college, he settled in Las Vegas, and worked at many hotels until retirement.
Dusty was preceded in death by his wife, Lyla Joy (Foremaster).
He is survived by his daughters, Carla (Kerry) Slagle, Janice (Scott) Miller and Carol Rancati, all of Las Vegas; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 31, at Palm Mortuary - Northwest, 6701 N. Jones Blvd.
