Dr. Bishop was born July 28, 1888, in Dunklin County, the son of James and Nancy Oxley Bishop. After completing his education, he came to Caruthersville in 1911 to practice his profession. He had been a member of First Baptist Church and of the local Masonic Lodge for many years.
Services were held Saturday afternoon at the First Baptist Church with the Rev. Harold Wilder officiating. Burial was in Little Prairie Cemetery with Dean Funeral Home in charge. Masonic services were held at the graveside.
He leaves his wife, Mrs. Lucile Bishop of the home here; two sons, Dr. Harrel Bishop of Hayti and Dr. Delbert Bishop of Poplar Bluff; seven grandchildren and two great-grandcchildren.
