Mrs. Rillie M. Ash Mitchum, 93, of Caruthersville, died April 13, 1990 in Memphis. Born March 26, 1897 in Pemiscot County, she was the daughter of Robert and Sally West Fowler. A housewife, she attended First Pentecostal Church of God. She was preceded in death by her first husband, George Lee Ash, and her second husband, Irvin Mitchum.
She is survived by five sons, Elmer and Melvin Ash, both of St. Louis, Alvie Ash of Puxico, Frank Ash of Lilbourn and Cletus Ash of Sedgewickville, Mo.: Four daughters, Mrs. Opal Johnson and Mrs. Lula Hueppauff, both of Caruthersville, and Mrs. Freda Hite and Mrs. Shirley Groves, both of St. Louis; Two stepsons, John Mitchum of Missouri and Loyd Mitchum of Tennessee; Four stepdaughters, Mrs. Ruby Chamberlain and Mrs. Juanita Holt, both of Michigan, Mrs. Martha Carr of Washington and Mrs. Christine Lee of California; Twenty-nine grandchildren, 49 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Services were April 16 at 2 p.m. at John W. German Funeral Home chapel in Hayti, the Rev. Kenny Durham officiating, with burial in Maple Cemetery.
Grandsons served as pallbearers.
