Laura A. (Whitehurst) Boone was born in about 1824 to Arthur WHITEHURST and Lucretia CRAVEN.

According to the 1850 Census for Albemarle County, Virginia, Laura was married to "Daniel Boon", who was age 33 at the time and about 8 years Laura's senior. Daniel died at some point prior to 1860.

Laura's only child was Dr. George Arthur Boone (April 1850 - 1920). Laura was born in Albemarle County, Virginia, and remained there into the 1870s when she removed to Augusta County, Virginia. At the time of her death on January 5, 1899, Laura was living in Staunton in that county.

Laura wrote and signed her Will on January 5, 1899. Ironically, Laura also died on that day. Her Will reads:

I, Laura A. Boon being of sound mind and disposing memory do make and publish this my last will and testament.

1. I desire all my just debts and funeral expenses paid as soon after my death as practicable, and a suitable monument erected to mark my grave.

Sellers the income of the personal estate and the use of the real estate to be enjoyed by them during their joint lives and by the survivor of them and after the death of my said sisters I desire my estate to go to my son Dr. George Boon and his children.

3. I hereby nominate and appoint Wm. Patrick of Staunton, Va, Executor of this my last will and testament.

Given under my hand and seal this 5th day of January, 1899.

By the time Laura's Will was probated in Staunton in April 1901, one of her surviving sisters named in the Will, Annie E. Whitehurst, had also died.

Laura is buried in Section 6/7 of Thornrose Cemetery in the same plot as her brother-in-law, William L. Sellers. William had married Laura's younger sister, Sarah "Sallie" M. Whitehurst, on May 31, 1871, just 3 weeks to the day prior to his death from Tuberculosis.
