Helen M. (Tripp) Jordan, 102, of Great Falls, died of natural causes Sunday, May 6, at a local hospital.
Her funeral service is 1 p.m. Saturday at Croxford Funeral Home, with interment in Highland Cemetery following the service. Croxford Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
Helen M. (Tripp) Jordan passed through the vale of life to the afterlife Sunday, May 6. She was born May 28, 1909, in Belt, to Jack and Kate Tripp, who were both pioneer Montanans. She was educated in Neihart and Lehigh and graduated from Great Falls High School. She attended Columbus School of Nursing and graduated in 1930. She practiced nursing at both Columbus and Deaconess Hospitals, where she was involved with neonatal care of many in the Great Falls and surrounding areas. She received numerous awards and citations for her care of these young patients and was instrumental in having the intensive care nursery become a reality for Great Falls.
She married James Wesley Brown on July 23, 1933. That union bore two children, Barbara Helen and Wesley James, both are now deceased. Mr. Brown passed March 23, 1939. Helen later married Ted C. Jordan on October 3, 1942, who adopted both children. Ted passed on Oct. 3, 1978.
Helen is truly a matriarch, not only to her immediate family, but also to the people of her community. If a child scraped their elbow or knee, they were taken care of by Helen. No questions were asked what happened or whose fault it was, but to get back out there to have more fun.
She is survived by her grandchildren, Rick Jacobs, Christy Tayman, Mark Jordan, and Julie Hicketheir; great-grandchild Jason Halmes; nieces Susie Andersen, Judy Johnson, Joanne Tripp; and nephews Robert Sloan, Danny Tripp, David Tripp, and John Tripp.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents; and her three siblings, Carl Warden Tripp, Anna Katherine Sloan and John Leslie Tripp.
Helen was a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother and friend to whomever she met.
