Bennie was born on December 23, 1940 in Carroll County, TN to the late Clay and Bessie Joyner Bridges.
He was a beloved member of the First Baptist Church of Bemis, TN. He retired from Madison County Board of Education in 2009, working 15 years at Southside High School. Thousands have enjoyed his music and singing since he was a teenager.
Bennie is survived by his loving and caring wife of 39 years, Barbara N. Young Bridges; a sister, Brenda Hudiburg and husband James; a brother, Troy Bridges; nieces and nephews who adored him.
In addition to his parents, Bennie was preceded in death by two sisters, Marion Grisham and Jean Cisco.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 31, 2011 5-8 p.m. at the South Chapel.
