He met and married Lucy Jane Massey in Red River County and they had three sons: Allen Monroe, George Washington, and Archie Homer Cherry. They later moved to Hopkins County and then to Collin County, where he was a manager of a large farm. when his youngest child was born. They moved to Dallas, where he entered the Grocery business and made that a life time career.
