James A. Kennedy, owner of the Diamond Restaurant in Glastonbury, husband of the late Annemarie (Ferling) Kennedy, died Thursday, December 7, 2000, while attending a meeting in Phoenix, Arizona. Born in Bronx, New York, son of the late James Alvis and Mildred (Webster) Kennedy, he was a graduate of Andrew Jackson High School in St. Albans, New York and later a graduate of Adelphi University, graduating Cum Laud. He worked for Pratt and Whitney serving as the President of the China office. Upon his retirement from Pratt, Jim bought the Diamond Restaurant in Glastonbury and operated that until his death. He was a Board member of the China Trade Council. A Board member of the Hale Farms Condo Association, a member of the Knights of Columbus of Glastonbury, a member of the Glastonbury Rotary Club, a member of the Financial Committee of St. Dunstan and a Lector of his church. He leaves six sons and their wives; Peter and Sherry Kennedy of Phoenix, Brian and Carolyn Kennedy of East Hartford; John Kennedy of Florida, Scott and Pamela Kennedy of Glastonbury; Lonnie and Susan Martin of Newington, and Glenn Kennedy and his fiancee, Karen Shepard of Marblehead, Mass; two daughters, Kathryn Cross of Glastonbury; and Linda and her husband Thomas Hatcher of Glastonbury; a dear sister, Irene Monroe of Tampa, Florida; a dear friend, Angie Phelan, and 17 grandchildren. A procession will form at the Glastonbury Funeral Home, 450 New London Tpke- Glastonbury, on Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2000 at 9 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in St. Dunstan Church, Manchester Road, Glastonbury. Burial will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery with full military honors. Friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday, December 12, 2-4 PM & 7-9PM. Memorial contributions may be made to the Glastonbury Volunteer Ambulance Assoc., P.O. Box 453 Glastonbury, or the Glastonbury Visiting Nurses, 969 Hebron Ave. Glastonbury, Ct. 06033
