Paul Louis Belles, 73, of Glastonbury, husband of Janet (Manning) Belles, died October 2, 2000 at Hartford Hospital. Born in Worcester, MA on August 27, 1927, he was the son of the late Oscar Melvin and Pauline (Martel) Belles of West Boylston, MA. He served his country in the U.S. Navy in the South Pacific during World War II. In 1959, he moved his family from West Boylston, MA, to Glastonbury. He was a member of St. Pauls Church for 41 years, a former member of the St. Pauls Mens Club, and a charter member of the Glastonbury Elks Club. Prior to his retirement, he was employed by the Shell Oil Company for 22 years as a sales representative. He retired from Mechanics Savings and Loan Bank. He was an avid golfer, past president of Minnechaug Country Club, holding the title for the "Longest Drive' for many years, and a gardener. In addition to his wife of 50 years, Janet, he leaves three daughters, Janet "Ginger" House and her husband, Craig House of Windsor, Jean Roswell and her husband, Wayne Roswell of New Hampshire, Joyce Solarz and her husband, Charles Solarz of Manchester; and his son, Paul Louis Belles, Jr. and his wife, Elizabeth of Glastonbury. He leaves eight grandchildren, Jamie and Christopher House, Wayne, Janet and Michele Roswell, Chase Solarz, Valerie and Victoria Belles; two brothers, Earle Belles of Aubin, MA, and Bernard Belles of Baltimore, MD. He was a devoted father and a very hard worker.
Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Glastonbury, CT.
