SPRINGFIELD -- Russell J. Shultz, 79, of Springfield died Saturday at his home.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the United Methodist Church in Springfield, with burial in the Springfield City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4-9 p.m. Wednesday at Sturm Funeral Home, Springfield, and Thursday for one hour at the church before services.
He is survived by his wife, Lorraine; daughter, Holly of Minneapolis; sons, Russell of Santa Barbara, Calif., Tom and John both of Oakland, Calif; and sisters Cleo (Mrs. Walter) Ochs of Springfield and Lola (Mrs. Herbert) Prahl of St. Peter. He was preceded in death by brothers, Lynn and Glenn, and sister Eulalie.
He was born June 19, 1906, in Stately Township to John C. and Evelyn (Trautmann) [sic] Shultz. On June 18, 1941, he married Lorraine Mielke. He co-operated the Schmid-Shultz Insurance Agency until 1969 and also handled real estate sales and a seed distributorship. He was a charter member and three-term director of the Springfield Golf Course. He had been active with the Boy Scouts, the Springfield Chamber of Commerce, the Springfield Hospital Board, was a charter member of the Exchange Club, as past member of Zenith Masonic Lodge and served on the Police Commission. He was a member of the United Methodist Church, Springfield.
