Marvin D. Cahill, 91, of Duluth, died Thursday, Dec. 25, 1997, in Lake Haven Manor.
He was born in Lake Wilson, Minn., on July 18, 1906, to Stanton and Augusta Cahill. Mr. Cahill was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in Corregidor, the Philippines and he spent 1,190 days in a Japanese prison camp. Marvin moved to Duluth in 1950, and was employed by U.S. Steel's Duluth Works for 21 years, retiring in 1971.
He was a lifetime member of American Legion Post 71, a charter member of Post Home and a former member of VFW Post 137.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Vincent in 1981; three grandsons, Michael and Scott Dille, and Joel Houchins; and Inga Sodergren.
Survivors include five daughters, Annette Hudson of Pensacola, Fla., Patricia Erven of Grand Rapids, Laurel Peltier of Woodbury, Minn., Bonnie Stevens of Champlin, Minn., and Cindy Radtke of Duluth; Trudy Bakke of Duluth; a brother, William Cahill of Lake Wilson, Minn.; a sister, Bernice Weise of Portland, Ore.; 14 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Visitation: 1 until the 2 p.m. service Monday in Bell Brothers Chapel. Burial in Oneota Cemetery. Military honors by the Duluth VFW Combined Honor Guard.
