Its stated he is son of once Massachusetts Governor John Davis but I can NOT find such documentation, in fact, I find information contrary to such relationship

His correct father is Benjamin Davis, d. 1805, of the Jersey Settlement, old Rowan County (now Davidson County), North Carolina. (It is not certrain where BD is buried; he was in the process of building his RevWar bounty land in Smith Co TN into their new home.) See the Raleigh Minerva, 30 Sep 1814, page 3, for a listing of all Benjamin Davis's children and heirs. You can also see elsewhere that his twin brother was Benjamin Merrill Davis. Each named a son after the other, so AND had a son BMD, BMD had a son AND
