The first-born daughter of John Firebaugh and his second Wife, Eleanor McCutcheon, Virginia is the sister of Robert Dunlap Firebaugh (Wife, Sarah Jane "Jennie" Clemmer), James Bolton Firebaugh (Wife, Sarah Jane Carden) and Sarah Cornelia Firebaugh (Mrs. Madison H. "Matt" Bear); She is the half-sister of Nancy Jane Firebaugh (Mrs. Elias Long), Polly Mary Firebaugh (Mrs. John Long), Benjamin Franklin Firebaugh (Wife, Rebecca Horn), Catherine Ann Firebaugh (Mrs. William Youell McCutcheon), David Henry Firebaugh (Wife, Margaret W. Hull), John Firebaugh (Wife, Julia, 2nd Wife Mary Jane Shuey), Andrew Davidson Firebaugh (Wife, Susan Burgess, and the man who began the town of Firebaugh, California), Elizabeth Firebaugh (Mrs. Samuel Anderson), Isabella A. Firebaugh, Henry A. Firebaugh (Killed during the Civil War in 1861), Samuel Angus Firebaugh and Rebecca Jane Firebaugh.
Virginia Caroline Firebaugh married Lt. John Youell Anderson on December 19, 1862, in Lexington, Rockbridge, Virginia. Together they had three children, Roberta Kerr Anderson (born 3 Feb 1865 and died 15 Mar 1866), Harry B. Anderson (1878-1969, Married to Gladys Phillips in 1905) and Mary Ellen Anderson (1880-1930, who was married to Miles B. Tilton in 1905).
After the death of their Daughter, Roberta, Virginia and her husband John moved out to Los Angeles, California, to be near other relatives who had already moved there. Virginia is from a long line of early settlers in the State of Virginia and the State of California.
Virginia and John were among the first settlers of the town of Westminster, then part of Los Angeles County and later part of Orange County, California. They are included in a book about the beginnings of Westminster, titled "Westminster Colony, California, 1869-1879" by Ivana Freeman Bollman;
Their other two children were born in California.
Virginia died November 26, 1889 in Westminster, Orange County, California, at the age of 49. She is buried near her husband, children and other family members in Fairhaven Memorial Park in Santa Ana, California.
She is still remembered because of all of the information about her that has been shared throughout the generations among her family members.
