Martin was avid outdoors-man who, at the age 69, hiked 18 miles into the Peepsite Lake area of the Cascades with his grandson, Jeff, and son-in-law, Russell. He built and remodeled several homes for his family over the years, often with lumber from his own mill and trees. He was also an avid reader of Western novels.
Martin is survived by three children, his son Ronald Billick, and wife, Marjorie, of Crosby; daughter, Marlene Lager, and husband Russell, of Edmonds; and daughter, Joyce Scott, of Bremerton; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and his cat Bonnie.
A private family celebration of his life is planned for Oct. 16 at the home of his granddaughter, Janna Hintz. Arrangements are under the direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
