Robert L. "Bob" Carlino went to his eternal home Nov. 26, 2009. Bob was born on June 30, 1921, at the top of Pueblo's Goat Hill. He was the owner of Bob Carlino Shoe Repair and a true craftsman. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 62 years, Mary Carlino; daughter, Christine (Gene) Tapia; and granddaughters, Lindsay and Megan Tapia. He is survived by his brothers, Joe (Frances), Charles (Jean) and Tony (Bette) Carlino; sister-in-law, Dena (George) Cullen; aunt, Mary Cozzolino of New York; special niece, Harriet Zaharias Miller of Tennessee; numerous nephews, nieces and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents, Charles and Mamie Carlino; and in-laws, Theros and Harriet Davros; as well as brothers-in-law, Chris (Katye) Zaharias and Gus Davros. Bob was a graduate of Pueblo Centennial High School Class of 1938. He served in the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1945 as part of the 224th Quartermaster Salvage and Repair Company. He was honored with a personal letter of commendation for his fine craftsmanship by Gen. Omar Bradley. Bob worked side by side with his wife, Mary, for the last 45 years at his shoe shop. He loved fishing, growing his summer garden, occasional trips to Cripple Creek and watching his granddaughters' sporting events. The family would like to thank Dr. Kyra Hootman, Dr. Guy Kemling, Dr. Atul Vahil, Dr. Christopher Louie and the fine staffs at Parkview Medical Center and the Sangre de Cristo Hospice. The family respectfully requests the omission of food and flowers. Contributions may be made in Bob's memory to St. John Greek Orthodox Church or the Sangre de Cristo Hospice, in care of the funeral home office. Viewing, 3 to 5 p.m. and Trisagion (Prayer Service), 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2009, at the funeral home. Funeral service, 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 2, 2009, St. John Greek Orthodox Church, 1010 Spruce St. The family will receive friends after the burial at a lunch reception at the Pueblo Union Depot.
