St. George--Paul Pixton Eardley, 68, died Nov. 29, 1983 at the Dixie Medical Center. He was born April 16, 1915, in Salt Lake City to Edward Holding and Olive Pixton Eardley. He married Jane Callahan on Dec. 14, 1949 in Salt Lake City. The marriage was later solemnized in the St. George LDS Temple on Oct. 14, 1980.

He lived in Salt Lake City before moving to St. George in 1947. He was active in his church as well as being involved in business and community affairs. He was founder of Dixie Transport, Inc. doing business as Dix-O-Oil, Utah's largest Independant L. P. Gas distributor. Holding such other positions as past vice president of the Salt Lake Junior Chamber of Commerce for 25 years; member of the White House Conference on Small Business under President Jimmy Carter; vice chairman on Gov. Matheson's Council on Small Business; chairman of the Washington County Deputy Sheriff's Merit Commission; chairman of S.C.O.R.E. in southern Utah; and Mountain States District Director of the National L.P. Gas Association.

Survivors include: his wife; sons, James J. Eardley, St. George; Paul C. Eardley, Kaysville; daughter, Susan Bracken, Bloomington; 12 grandchildren; three brothers, Kenneth P. Eardley, Salt Lake City; Edward P. Eardley, Annandale, Va. and Dr. Gene P. Eardley, Washington City.

Services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the St. George 5th and 6th LDS Ward Chapel. Friends may call Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. or Saturday 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Spilsbury and Graff Mortuary in St. George. Burial will be in St. George City Cemetery.
