Mildred Mae Williams Allbright was born on Oct. 30, 1915 to John Wylie and Lucretia Williams in Goliad, where she spent her formative years. She was the youngest of 12 children. She died on March 8, 2010 at Central Texas Medical Center in San Marcos. Mildred married S.J. "Jack" Allbright in 1937 in Beeville, where they lived until 1951 when they moved to San Marcos. Both went to work at the college. Mildred worked in the book store until her retirement in 1977.
Jack passed away in 1991 and Mildred lived independently thanks to the loving care and dedication of exemplary Christian friends. Mildred was a member of the University Church of Christ where the Silver Saints were an integral part of her life. Mildred is survived by her children, Marilyn Belver of Congress, Ariz. and Jackie Allbright and wife, Jeanette of Portland, Texas; nine grandchildren, Michael Allbright and wife, Tami of Lubbock, Jason Allbright of Portland, Texas, Stephanie Betz and husband, Michael of Portland, Texas, Loretta Chessher of Corpus Christi, Vickie Watts and husband, Gary of Lubbock, Debbie Snyder of Congress, Arizona, Howard Dalton and wife, Sheila of Congress, Arizona, Carol Olson of Lake Havasu, Arizona, and Nina Carter and husband, Jim of Congress, Arizona; 15 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers you may make contributions to the Jamaican Mission Fund at the University Church of Christ, 115 Country Estates Drive, San Marcos, Texas 78666. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 11 at the University Church of Christ in San Marcos, with Mr. Buddy Martin officiating. Interment will follow in Memory Lawn Memorial Park in Martindale. Arrangements under the care and guidance of Pennington Funeral Home, 323 N. Comanche Street, San Marcos, 353-4311.
