Birth: 1838, Sweden
Death: 1915

One of the earliest Swedish settlers of Galesburg died at Galesburg Hospital after a two week illness of Brights disease. He came to America at age 16. When the civil war broke out he enlisted in Co. D 33rd Ill., and served three years, three months valiantly and participated in battle of Vicksburg, Miss. He was present at capture of Ft. Donaldson. For bravery he was at one time offered capatincy of a colored Co., but declined and served as private all through the war. Shortly after the war ended he came to Galesburg. Married Mar. 25,1868 Anna Gibson who died Nov. 16,1896. He first engaged in the butcher business then early in the 1880's took a vetinary surgery which then was his occupation. He was one of the charter members of the First Swedish Baptist church. This obit was copied from a newspaper and published by the Knox Co. Genealogical Society
