Edmund J. Arps Oshkosh Daily Northwestern November 28, 1970
Edmund J. Arps, 79, of 4712 Bay View Lane, founder and president of Duo-Safety Ladder Co., died Friday at Mercy Medical Center, following a heart attack. A graduate of the University of Wisconsin in 1913 in electrical engineering. Mr. Arps was employed at Commonwealth Edison Co., before coming to Oshkosh in 1933 to establish the safety ladder firm.
He was born in New Holstein on Jan. 21, 1891, a son of John and Adolphine K. Arps, and was married in Kiel to Miss Melitta Ann Hanske on Sept. 7, 1916. He was a member of First congregational Church, Oshkosh Rotary Club, Oshkosh Elks 292 and University of Wisconsin Alumni Association. He and his wife had been frequent visitors to foreign countries.
His widow, Melitta survives.
Services will be held Monday at Seefeld Church avenue Chapel, with the Rev. Nels F. Nordstrom, of First Congregational church, officiating. Burial will be in Lake View Memorial Park.
