Leona was the daughter of James Glenn Thompson and Mary Jane Hawk.
Leona G. Courson -- Sister of Clarion County residents -- ELLWOOD CITY -- Leona G. Courson, 80, of 645 Zelienople Road, Ellwood City, died Saturday, November 23, 1996, in Ellwood City Hospital, following a brief illness. Born June 26, 1916, in Clarion County, she was a daughter of J. Glenn and Mary Jane Hawke Thompson. She was married in 1940 to Fred D. Courson, who died in 1979. She was a homemaker and a Protestant. Surviving are a daughter, L. Janie (Mrs. Lemuel C.) Linville of Ellwood City; a son, LaVern "Bud" Courson of Ellwood City; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Mrs. Courson also is survived by three sisters, Ellen (Mrs. Ronel) Callander of Dutch Hill, Viola (Mrs. Donel) Callander of West Freedom and Alvera (Mrs. Willard) Leckliter of Silver Creek, N.Y.; and one brother, Fred Thompson of Clintonville. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Courson was preceded in death by an infant son, Robert Fred Courson; and a brother, Eugene Thompson. Services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, November 25, in the Marshall Funeral Home in Ellwood City. The Rev. Glenn Hink of the Bell Memorial Church officiated. Interment was in Locust Grove Cemetery at Ellwood City.
