BELMONT/ PLATTEVILLE - William D. Geasland, age 97, of Belmont, formerly of Platteville, died Friday, Oct. 6, 2006, at St. Mary's Hospital, Madison. William was born on June 20, 1909, in Ellenboro, Grant County, the son of Wallace and Linnie (Culver) Geasland. He was married in June 1941, to Lena McKnight. He was a Mason Tender for Geasland Masonry, Platteville. He loved fishing and snowmobiling. He is survived by three children, Deanna Webster of Potosi, Melvin (Kathy) Riege of Phoenix, Ariz. and Maynard (special friend, Diane Pilgrim) Geasland of Belmont; 14 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, George and daughter-in-law, Karin Geasland, both in 2005; his parents; two brothers, Fawn and Edward; and an infant sister, Elizabeth. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 9, 2006, at the MELBY-BENDORF FUNERAL HOME, 1245 N. Water St., Platteville. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery, Platteville. Friends may call from 11 a.m. until the time of the service Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the William D. Geasland Memorial Fund. The Melby-Bendorf Funeral Home, Platteville is serving the family.
