The daughter of William Truman Gilbert, Amelia married Henry King Aderton on 07 Oct 1859 in Calhoun County, Illinois. He was a farmer, and they were the parents of at least 8 children. Several of their children did not survive infancy or early childhood.
During their marriage, Henry served in the Civil War with Company C of the 97th Illinois Infantry.
At the time of her death, Amelia was 41 years old. She was survived by her husband, Henry, although the 1880 census noted that he suffered from paralysis. Henry passed away in 1894.
