CLINTON — Morris W. Adams, 90, of Clinton, passed away at 1:30 a.m. on Jan. 30, 2011, in his residence. He was born Aug. 3, 1920, in Lyford, to Riley Adams and Edith Jones Adams.
He was a U.S. Navy World War II veteran and served on the USS Gardiners Bay AVP-39 Ship. He was a coal miner and an operating engineer. He was a member of the United Mine Workers District 11 and the Operating Engineers 841. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Clinton for 70 years and later a member of State Line Christian Church. He helped start the Lyford Fire Department and a member of the Lyford Water Works.
He is survived by one son, Don and Patty Adams of Lyford; daughters by marriage, Paula Shoaff, Ginger Corado, Carol Sanquenetti and Patty Jakowczyk; sons by marriage, Terry, Stan and Steve Rukes and John Reed; one brother, David and Dorothy Adams of Terre Haute; grandchildren, Mindy Pusateri and husband Tony, Jeff Russell, Brian Russell, Brad Russell, Jim Adams, Jon Adams and Jo Ann Dellinger; many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and many loving and loved extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Lois Faye Adams in 1970; his second wife, Mary Della Adams in 1989; and his third wife, Doris Jean Adams in 2007; a daughter, Carol Faye Russell; grandson, Mark Russell; daughters by marriage, Sue Ann Massa and Christine Keller; one brother; and one sister.
Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park, with military rites performed by the American Legion 140 and Veterans of Foreign Wars 6653. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hospice of the Wabash Valley.
