There are a couple of mistakes in the obit as compared to the Minnesota Death Index. I corrected her birth place and received an edit giving this memorial her mother. If these corrections are in error and you have proof, please let me know.
AUGUSTA, Ga. -- Evelyn E. Akre, 93, Augusta, Ga., formerly of the Brainerd area, died Monday, Nov. 18, 2002, in Augusta. She was born in Hutchinson to Henry and Sarah Wendland. She and her husband, Earle, were longtime residents of the Brainerd-Nisswa area. She was a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church. She owned Akre's Dutch Oven and the Dutch Mill in Nisswa, and the Treasure Trove, Quality Bakery, Akre's Cafe and Baker Boy in Brainerd. She moved to Augusta in 1990.
Survivors include three sons, Earle "Buzz" Akre, Randy Akre and Alan Akre; a daughter, Jill Akre; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and one stepgreat-grandchild.
Four sisters and a brother died earlier.
Friends may call from 1-3 p.m. today at Nelson-Doran Funeral Home in Brainerd. A family service will follow.
