Shirley Nile Ainge, 93, passed away at the Sandy Regional Rehabilitation Center in Sandy on Wed., Sept. 22, 2010. He was born July 13, 1917, to Nile and Ella Ainge in Jensen, Utah.
He married Margie Bernice Cook in Jensen, Utah, on July 5, 1938. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti Temple in March 1963.
Shirley worked for Doug Chew and Joe Livingston, herding sheep. Shirley and Bernice loved horses and did much riding, making many memories. Family was one the most important things in Shirley's life. He also drove for various trucking companies in the Uintah Basin. He worked for Moon Lake Electric in Roosevelt, and ran the Hydro Plant in Uinta Canyon for 18 years. Shirley served in the Marine Corp during World War II. He was active in the LDS faith and served in many callings.
He is survived by a daughter, Cherie Ainge Dickey of Sandy; a son, Duane Ainge, of Dinosaur; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; sisters, Mrs. Rose (Hoyle) Robinson of Jensen and Mrs. Joy (Jay) Haslem of Vernal.
He is preceded in death by his wife Bernice; sons Gary and Harold G.; his parents; three sisters; two brothers; and two nephews.
Funeral services were held Sat., Sept. 25, 2010, at 11 a.m., at Ashley 1st Ward on North Vernal Avenue. Friends and family called Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Blackburn Vernal Mortuary and one hour prior to services at the chapel. Burial was in Rock Point Cemetery under the direction of Blackburn Vernal Mortuary.
