Census records indicate that Silas Cantley was born in MO. Similar records of Isaac B. Cantley (1816-1886)suggest that Isaac and Silas may have been brothers.
A probable narrative: Silas Cantley married Gillian Ann Brown 15 Dec 1842; marriage was recorded in Franklin County. A son was born to this couple in 1844. Although William Joseph Cantley (1844-1911) was living in the Isaac Cantley 1850 Third Creek, Gasconade, Missouri household, the MO DC #18355-1 of this William J. Cantley lists parents of Silas and Gillian A. Cantley.
On 20 Apr 1857, Silas Cantley married Helen Burchard; both lived in Gasconade County. From a review of Cantley household in 1860 and 1870 Bourbois, Gasconade, MO, census entries, the children of Helena and Silas were Margaretha born circa 1858 and Louise born circa 1862.
After Helena Cantley died, Silus married Arminda Nelson on 17 Nov 1869 in Gasconade County, MO. Missouri Death Records 1834-1910 indicate that Silas Cantley died in Bourbois Township, Gasconade County, MO, on 8 January 1886 at the age of 66 years, 1 month, and 12 days. Cause of death was pleural pneumonia and he was buried in what appears to read Iron Hill Cemetery. Gasconade County cemetery records specify that he was buried in Cleavesville Cemetery. His widow, Arminda Cantley, indicated on the 1900 census that she was the mother of six children and that five are living.
