Graveside services for Joseph David Branson, 84, who died Monday at a Boise Nursing home, will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Cloverdale Memorial Park by the Rev. Don I. Smith of Hillview United Methodist Church. Interment will follow.
He was born May 16, 1890, in Conejos, Conejos County, Colorado. He attended high school in Durango, Co. He moved by train to Salt Lake City and by wagon train to Idaho in 1909 with his parents and two sisters. He settled in Boise County in 1910, where he engaged in logging, blacksmithing, and horseshoeing. He served two years in France during World War I with the U.S. Army. After the war, he was employed by Morrison-Knudsen co. He later worked five years in the mines near wallace befor locating the birthday mine near Lowman in 1934, which he operated until his retirement in 1959. He married Martha Curtis on Dec 7, 1950, in Winnemucca, Nev.
Surviving are his wife, Martha of Boise: Three daughters, Janet and Joanie Branson, both of Boise: Mrs. Larry Crandall of Glenns Ferry: A step daughter, Mrs. Diana Michaelson of San Jose, Ca. Three sons, James David Branson of Spokane, Jerry william Branson of Boise and Stanley Gene Branson of Tacoma, Wa. 18 grandchildren and two nieces.
He was proceeded in death by a daughter and a stepson. Friends may call at Cloverdale funeral home from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. Wednesday.
