MARGARET PAULINE LUCAS, 85, Holy Cross, died at 9:25 p.m. April 19, 2004, at Federal Hill Manor, Bardstown. Born April 14, 1919, in Marion County, Lucas was a former homemaker. She was preceded in death by: her husband, Charles Thomas "Charlie" Lucas (died June 29, 1994); her parents, James Earnest and Mary Ollie Whitfield Lucas; a son, Charles Thomas Lucas Jr.; a stepson, Joseph Wilson Lucas; a brother, James Nolan Lucas; three half brothers, Weilheilmus "Frosty" Fenwick, Willie Lucas and Matthew Lucas; and a half sister, Alice Watson. Survivors include: four daughters and two sons-in-law, Oma Lee and George Feaster of Bloomington, Ind., Aline and Alton Vessells of Bardstown, Geraldine Kennedy of Bardstown, and Inez Lucas of Nazareth; two sons and two daughters-in-law, James W. and Anita Lucas of Lebanon Junction, and Thomas Curtis and Glenda Lucas of Bardstown; 16 grandchildren, and 24 great-grandchildren. A funeral Mass was held April 23 at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Holy Cross, with burial in the church cemetery. Rev. R. Joseph Hemmerle officiated. Expression of sympathy can be made to Hospice of Nelson County, Inc., 111 N. Third Street, Bardstown, KY 40004. Honorary pallbearer was Joe Vessells. Pallbearers were Johnathon, Tommy, Roger, and Bruce Lucas, Jackie Day, and Kevin Davis. Mattingly Funeral Home, Loretto, was in charge of the arrangements.
