Wiley Rogers Folger, age 70, of Carmel, died Wednesday, May 3, after a 14 yr battle with cancer. He was born Aug 28, 1935, to Wayne and Violet Allen Folger in Perry, OK. He graduated from North High School in Wichita, KS in 1953, and earned undergraduate and master's degrees from Wichita State University. He was commissioned in the Army and served at Ft. Sill, OK. His wife, Ethel Ticer Folger, survives, along with son John and his wife Rhonda, of Westfield, and daughter Beth and her husband Ed LaPlante, of Carmel. Other survivors include his five wonderful grandchildren, David and Sharon Folger, and Emma, Chloe, and Chase LaPlante; sister JoAnn Snodgrass of Keller, TX; and several nieces and nephews. Brothers Bob and Jerry preceded him in death. He came to Indianapolis with Continental Casualty Insurance Co. and later went to work for Eli Lilly in Indianapolis and Elanco in Memphis, TN, and Sao Paulo, Brazil. In 1978, he established The Folger Gallery in Carmel, Indiana. He also owned and operated Wits End Ranch in Durango, CO. For the last 20 years, he worked in the mortgage business and as a real estate broker. Mr. Folger was a man with a wide range of interests - a collector of books and Native American artifacts. He enjoyed music, art and traveling, especially in the American West, and loved planting flowers and landscaping every place he lived. Services will be held at 10:00 am Saturday, May 6 at Flanner & Buchanan Funeral Center, Carmel, where friends may call from 5:00-8:00 pm Friday, May 5. He will be buried in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to Carmel Untied Methodist Church or any charity of the donor's choice.
