Officer Russell George was killed when he was invovled in a automobile accident while responding to a call for assistance from another Police Officer.
Officer George was responded to a call for assistance from another Officer from the Ball Police Department. He was traveling south on US Hwy 165 when his patrol car collided with an abandoned bicycle that was located in the roadway. After colliding with the bicycle, Officer George lost control of his patrol car, left the roadway and collided with several trees. After colliding with the trees, the patrol car became engulfed in flames. Officer George died at the scene.
Officer George had served with the Ball Police Department for 18 years and had previously served with the United States Army.

Services for Russell Anthony George will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, June 30, 2011, at the chapel of Hixson Brothers, Pineville, with Father Bruce Miller officiating. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Ball, under the direction of Hixson Brothers, Pineville.
Visitation will be Wednesday, June 29, 2011, at Hixson Brothers, Pineville, from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.
Patrolman George, 47, of Boyce, was killed in the line of duty, Sunday, June 26, 2011.
He was a patrolman with the Ball Police Department. He had served on the Port Allen Police Department, AKA6 Security, University of Tennessee Police Department, Pineville City Marshals, North Slope Borough Police Department, Louisiana State University Police Department and the Denham Springs Police Department.
He served in the United States Army as an E-5 Tank Crewman from March 26, 1981 to March 25, 1984 and received an honorable discharge.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert George, Sr.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife Paula (Miki) George of Boyce; daughter, Alexis George of Baton Rouge; stepdaughters, Tracy Bordelon of Scotland, Kristen Socia of Alexandria; mother, Eula George of Pineville; sisters, Rhonda Trusler of Saudi Arabia, Monica Edmonson of Pineville; brothers, Robert George, Jr. of Pensacola, Florida, Gary M. George of Baton Rouge. He is also survived by a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews - all who loved him dearly.
Pallbearers will be Jeremy Thompson, Jeff Smith, Joe Thompson, Kevin Sweeney, Brady McClair, and Markus Smith. Honorary pallbearers will be Co-Workers of Ball Police Department.
