David was a brilliant man and an avid reader. He taught grades 4-6 in Camarillo, California and later taught 7th and 8th grade history and math in Thousand Oaks until he retired.
He enjoyed making jewelry, leather purses and wallets, and latch-hook area rugs. When Luella was done with summer school for the year the family would go on long car trips across country.
David chewed snuff, which eventually led to oral cancer. After extensive surgery and a valiant battle, he died in his home May 27, 1998.
