Buck passed away on Tuesday, May 30th, 2006. He was 87.
Born January 29th, 1919 at Chelsea to Walter "Watt" and Lelia Rathfon Beck, Buck was reared and educated in his birth community. At a young age he began working in the cattle business—a career that spanned throughout his life.
On Sept. 16th, 1939 Buck married June Ricks. They made rural Chelsea their home. Along with Buck's cattle business he worked as a car salesman in both Nowata and Claremore.
In his time away from work Buck enjoyed playing pitch and dominoes. Often frequenting garage sales was another pastime of his. Never meeting a stranger, Buck felt like everyone was his friend. He liked walking down the main streets of Claremore, Chelsea and Nowata visiting with folks he knew.
This wonderful father, grandfather, brother and friend will be missed by all who knew him. Those that survive include his children Betty Inman and husband Jack of Nowata, Charles Beck and wife Karen of Owasso; his three grandchildren Jack Inman of Delaware, Julie Hunter of Nowata and Steve Beck of Owasso; his six great grandchildren; his siblings Sylvia Leathers, Wanda House and Kenneth Beck all of Chelsea and a host of nieces and nephews.
Buck was preceded in death by his parents, his wife June, his brother Bud Beck and his sisters Madalyn Stone, Norma Hemphill and an infant sister Pauline Beck.
