John L. Adkisson - Roane County News - (Jun/30/2010) John L. Adkisson

John L. Adkisson, 74, of Birmingham , Ala. , formerly of South Harriman, passed away Saturday, June 26, 2010, in Parkwest Medical Center , Knoxville . He was a U.S. Army veteran who served in the Korean Conflict. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lon and Lona Adkisson. Survivors include two children, both of which are also veterans, and a spouse, Tony Adkisson (U.S. Navy), Oak Ridge, and Lisa (U.S. Army) and Barry Jacobsen, Richmond, Va; two brothers, Bill Adkisson, Wartburg, and Wilburn Adkisson, Dayton, Ohio; a sister, Betty Phillips, Oak Ridge; a host of nieces, nephews, friends and loved ones. The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, June 28, in Davis Funeral Home, Harriman. Funeral service followed, with the Rev. Mason Goodman officiating. Burial was at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 29, at Roane Memorial Gardens , Rockwood. An online register is available at www.davisfuneralhomes.com.
