Alex E. Bettis
Alex E. Bettis, 75, of the Cedar Fork community in Philadelphia, died suddenly at his home on Thursday, July 15, 2004.
He was a veteran of the Korean War and was a well-known carpenter. He was preceded in death by his parents, Tom and Artie Nipper Bettis; one son, Aubery Bettis; one sister and brother-in-law, Lillie and Charles Richards; and one brother, Evert Bettis.
Survivors include his wife, Emma L. Bettis; five children and four spouses, Anita and Ricky Ellison of Paint Rock, Alva and Rex Gregory of Decatur, Allen and Brenda Bettis and Leon Bettis, all of Paint Rock, and Yvette and Bryan Alexander of Sweetwater; two stepdaughters and spouses, Elisa and Greg Jett of Sweetwater, and Barbara and Sam Lawhon of Paint Rock; one brother and two sisters-in-law, Ellis "Bud" and Mary Bettis and Marie Bettis of Philadelphia; six grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; two aunts, Letha Shipley and Ellen Bettis; and two uncles and one spouse, Willis and Pearl Bettis and Walter "Dick" Bettis.
Funeral services will be 8 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Loudon Funeral Home with the Rev. Allen Young officiating. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Cedar Fork Cemetery with Brother Ted Halcomb officiating.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Loudon Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
