In 1870 P.A. was living with his parents Josiah Alfred Evans and Rebecca White in Caldwell County, KY. Nearby, on the Tradewater River, was his father's business, the Evans Grist Mill. The family left KY in the 1870's and were farming in Crawford County, AR in 1880. P.A. married Harriet Wardlaw in 1893 and they were farming in Yell County, AR in 1900. Harriet's parents Elijah Wardlaw and Temperance Bagwell, her sister Bessie Wardlaw as well Bessie's daughter Estill Deaton lived with them. Harriet died in 1916 leaving P.A. with four children ranging from 10 to 22. About 1920 he remarried his brother David Dimmet's widow, Lettie Brown Johnson. Lettie brought four children with her. By 1926 they had two more children together for total of ten in their blended family. In the middle 1920's, for economic reason many of the families young moved to Michigan to work in the auto industry. About that time P.A. retired from farming and moved to a small home in Dyer AR. In later years he suffered from cancer of the jaw and died in Michigan in 1944 shortly after being taken there for treatment. He was returned to Mt. George AR for burial near many friend and family members. P.A. was known for being a good natured, honest, gentle man who loved his children and loved playing his fiddle. In the generations that have followed him the fruit hasn't fallen far from that wonderful tree.
