Mrs. Arminda Maurer Dies at Advanced Age
Mrs. Arminda Maurer, who would have been 93 years old in July, died at the St. Francis hospital at 8:30 this morning following a short illness.
She was born July 28, 1853, in McLuney, Ohio, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alex Milligan, She was a member of the Graham Methodist church.
She was married to Peter Maurer February 14, 1875, at Graham. Mr. And Mrs. Maurer celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1925. Mr. Maurer died in 1930. They moved to the Sunnybrook farm in 1881 and built the Sunnybrook country store in 1910, which they operated until it burned in 1936.
She is survived by two nieces, Mrs. Ray Kiser of Barnard and Mrs. Mary Shamberger of Maryville.
Funeral services will be held at 10 o'clock Monday morning at the Graham Methodist church.
Burial will be in the I. O. O. F. cemetery at Graham.
Note: according to "The History of Nodaway County Missouri" published in 1882, the marriage between Peter and Arminda occurred not on the above specified date, but rather on 18 March, 1875. This much earlier record made during the early married lives of Peter and Arminda has much greater probative value.
Peter and Arminda had no children to act as informants for the obituary, so the reference to "Alex" Milligan is also deemed to be an error.
