Argene "Mittie" Betz, 96, of Miami, formally of Jacksonville passed away July 6, 2010. Born in Kildare, GA to Julius and Hattie Lucas, she was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Mittie was of the Lutheran faith; she was a life member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church where she served for many years as a teacher in the Sunday School Nursery. After moving to Miami in October 2002, she regularly attended Immanuel Lutheran Church. Mittie was a member in good standing in Southside Chapter 28, Order of the Eastern Star for 34 years. Throughout her life, she was an avid fisherman. She enjoyed ceramics and in her later years she enjoyed painting both landscapes and portraits. Preceded in death by her loving husband of 53 years, Gilbert R. Betz, she is survived by her son, Gilbert C. Betz and daughter-in-law Debra of Coral Gables, FL; grandchildren, Robert S. Betz, Kimberly A. Betz and David A. Betz; and many other family members and friends.
