Obituary from The West Union Association United Baptists' Minutes 1893-1946:
"Wesley Owens, born October 3, 1825, and Caroline Adkins, born July 1, 1827, were married October 16, 1844. Both were corpse at the same time and were buried on the same day. Wesley departed this life February 6, 1913 at 5:45 PM, and Caroline February 7th at 6:15 AM. Both were members of the Baptist Church about thirty-nine years and were members of the Mt. Zion Church at the time of their departure and had been for many years. The Mt. Zion Church held services for about 5 years from its organization in Mr. Owens' dwelling house, or until the present church was built. Both were pious and devoted members and left bright evidence of a home in heaven. Mr. Owens had been blind for a number of years. Both left this world saying their sufferings were over and were bidding farewell. They leave six children and a host of friends to mourn their absence, but we feel our loss is their eternal gain."
