Sarah Fannie "Fannie" Idelman came to St. Joseph, Missouri, USA, in the middle 1860s from Russia-Poland with her parents and brother. Her mother did not like St. Joseph and returned to Russia-Poland bringing Fannie with her.
Raised in Europe, Fannie married Simon Bornstein of Velna, Poland, and came to Boston where they remained until their first child was born. They then moved to Denver, Colorado where Simon was in the liquor business.
Around 1908 the family returned to Boston.
