The son of Christopher Athanase Poissot & Marie Manuel DeSoto; married Marie Louise Euphrasine Pavie.

Athanase Poissot was one of the "les Revenants" in the Revolt at Natchitoches in 1796 along with his cousin Remi Lambre.
