Ursula Margaret Arnoldy was born on February 24, 1919 to Hubert and Susanna Koster Konzem on a farm east of Tipton, Kansas. She departed this life of 89 years, 4 months and 10 days early Sunday morning, July 6, 2008 at Hilltop Lodge in Beloit.
She and her future husband, Norbert Arnoldy, graduated from Tipton High School in the Class of 1937. When Norbert joined the Marine Corps in 1939, Ursula traveled to California with family members. Shortly after World War II started, they were married on February 2, 1942 in Coronado, California.
Norbert and Ursula and their two oldest children moved back to Tipton in 1947 and made their home on the family farm south of town that had been homesteaded by Norbert's grandparents. They farmed and had a dairy operation. When Norbert passed away in 1986, Ursula continued to live at the farm before moving to Beloit in 2003.
Ursula was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church and served as President of the St. Ann Altar Society and the Tipton High School Alumni Association. Ursula was an accomplished artist, an excellent seamstress and quilter and an avid gardener.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Norbert; brothers Rudolph, Felix and Clement Konzem; sisters Christina Hake McKnight, Dorothy Schroeder, Mathilda Santee; two grandchildren Timothy and Ryan Brummer, and one great grandchild Zachary Tiernan.
Left to mourn her passing and celebrate her life are her children David Arnoldy and wife Linda of St. Paul, Minnesota, Janet Eck and husband Leon of Tipton, Joanne Brummer and husband Kenneth of Tipton, Stanley Arnoldy and wife Becky of Saddlebrooke, Missouri, Nancy Arnoldy-Weller and husband Doug of Salina, Diane Gonzolas and husband Sig Garnett of Lincoln, Nebraska; one sister Anita Reid of Lakewood, Colorado; 17 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and many friends.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 AM July 10, 2008 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Tipton by Father Damian Richards. Burial will follow in St. Boniface Cemetery. The Parish Vigil & Rosary Service will be held at 8:00 P.M. Wednesday at St. Boniface Catholic Church. Friends may call from 9:00 A.M. until 4:30 P.M. Wednesday at the McDonald Funeral Home. Memorials may be given to the Alzheimer's Foundation or the Tipton Catholic High School Endowment Fund.
