Louisa Happel no newspaper named November 1982
Louisa Happel, 93, a former Kiel resident, died this morning at Calumet Homestead Nursing Home, New Holstein where she had lived for the past five years.
The former Louisa Neumann was born Sept. 28, 1889, in the Town of Schleswig (Manitowoc County), daughter of William and Anna Mauer Neumann. She attended district school. On Jan. 25, 1913, she married William Happel at Bethlehem United Church of Christ, Town of Schleswig. The couple farmed in the Town of Schleswig until 1958, when they moved to Kiel. He died in 1980. Mrs. Happel was a member of St. Peter United Church of Christ, Kiel; its Women's Guild Society, the Fraunverein and GUG Germania Society.
Survivors include a son, Melvin of Kiel; two grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a step grandchild; two great-step-grandchildren; a brother, Oscar Neumann of rural Kiel; and three stepsisters; Mrs. William Diefenthaler and Mrs. Erna Jung, both of Kiel, and Mrs. Edwin Meinnert of Sheboygan. She was preceded in death by two brothers.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday at Meiselwitz Funeral Home, Kiel. The Rev. John Baumann, pastor of St. Peter UCC, will officiate. Burial will be in Kiel Cemetery.
