*Mary Lou(i?)ssa Johns.
Age 18 years, 11 months, 10 days.
Mary Louisa Johns is the daughter of Stephen H. & Emily Wood Johns and was born October 18, 1846 in Grimes Co, Texas. Both of her parents died at a very young age. Mary Louisa was the granddaughter of James & Mary Finley Wood of Grimes Co., Texas and of John & Mary "Polly" Dunham Johns, Jr. of Davidson Co., Tennessee. Mary Louisa's grandfather, James Wood, was appointed Guardian. During the term of Guardianship James Wood asked the courts, and was granted permission, for Mary Louisa Johns to use some of her inheritance and have a monument erected for her parents at the Dunham-Wood Cemetery in Grimes Co., Texas. Mary Louisa was mentioned in both of her Grandfathers wills, James Wood (1785-1869) and John Johns, Jr. (1779-1859). James Wood requested a monument to be erected for her at the Cemetery where she was buried and John Johns Jr. gave her slaves when she would become of age. Mary Louisa died September 28, 1865 at the young age of 18 on a trip to Waco, Texas and is buried at the First Street Cemetery in Waco, McLennan Co. Texas. Emily Wood Johns and husband Stephen H. Johns are buried next to Emily's parents, James & Mary Finley Wood, in the Dunham-Wood Cemetery in Grimes Co., Texas.
